Chamila Weerathunghe is an environmental professional with more than 15 years of experience in pollution control, natural resources management, climate and disaster resilience and public interest litigation in the realm of environmental matters. A Chemical Engineer by training, Chamila has three masters qualifications on environmental management, integrated water resources management and business administration.
Chamila started her career as a Chemical Engineer at Browns Group in 2004 and then advanced her career at Environmental Foundation (Guarantee) Limited – EFL as a Project Manager, Manager- Programmes and as the Chief Operations Officer when she was leaving EFL in 2018. She has further served as the Programme Coordinator at Dilmah Conservation, the conservation arm of the Ceylon Tea Services, MJF Group from 2012 to 2014. Chamila is currently working as a National Project Coordinator at the International Labour Organization of the United Nations.
Chamila has been serving as a volunteer member of the panel of judges of the Best Sustainability Projects Awards, convened by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce since 2019.
