ADVOCACY / PROJECTS

As a Senior Researcher at the Centre for poverty Analysis (2007 – 2025) her work focused on research and policy interventions around the topic of sustainable development. Exploring the root causes; the scientific, socio-economic and institutional processes and interlinkages that need to be understood to deal with the environment and poverty nexus and thus looking to generate knowledge and evidence that will allow us to make the transformation in our value systems, to do business as well as to live our lives within the boundaries of natural limits.

Now, as an Independent Consultant ( 2025 to date), she continues to believe that conservation and protecting the environment requires a balance between ecosystem wellbeing and human wellbeing. Her current work has leaned heavily towards aspects of intersectionality, vulnerability and inclusion of marginalised communities in tackling the impacts of climate change and disaster rusk reduction

Karin has a Masters in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University, having obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science from Allegheny College.
